 Delhi is spread over an area of 1483 sq. kilometers, 216 meters above sea level and has a population of around 14 million. The helm of Governance in Delhi has able leaders like the Chief Minister , Ms Sheila Dixit, the Lt Governor, Mr Tejender Khanna and many others. Lotus Temple Delhi hosts the key leadership of the Central Government, the Government of Delhi and the Central and State Opposition. Important Political structures like the Parliament and Rashtrapati Bhawan are strategically located in Delhi. The Armed forces (Army, Navy and the Airforce) Headquarters are located in Delhi. Besides the Political seat of power, Delhi also plays host to representations of all the categories of the Judicial system of India which includes the Lower Courts, the High Court and the Supreme Court. Delhi is one of the most cosmopolitan cities of India. Delhi has a transportation network of Taxis, Buses, Trains, Airlines, Metro, Auto Rickshaws and Cycle Rickshaws. As a timeless tradition Delhi has played host to several Games and Sporting Events. Last year was marked by the Commonwealth Games which turned out well but the process was full of controversies and many graves are still being opened. The Central Government and key Sports authorities like Mr Suresh Kalmadi came under heavy flak for the poor management and the highlighted financial irregularities. India Gate Political machinery was severely shaken up recently owing to stark revelations of Corrupt practices in the Government. In the forefront of the campaign is Mr Anna Hazare who bravely went on a “fast onto death†Satyagraha (Peaceful protest movement on the lines of the principles of Mahatma Gandhi. The infrastructure in Delhi has improved tremendously over the last couple of years but nevertheless Delhi has to do a lot more to comply with Infrastructure expectations from the Capital city of a Nation as great as India. India is fast rising to the status of a World Superpower and an Economic Giant. The language spoken in Delhi is primarily Hindi but owing to the vast population including people from different States and Countries more than one languages are spoken in Delhi. Delhi is a City with a large and noble heart. It welcomes people from across all States, Countries, Sects, Faiths etc. |
